Bangladesh Bank (BB)
Bangladesh Bank (BB) is the central bank and apex regulatory body for the country’s monetary and financial system. In addition to supporting and launching 50 green refinancing products Bangladesh Bank has also lined up a USD 200 million longer term fund called ‘Green Transformation Fund’ to support green transition of manufacturing practices in the export oriented textiles and leather sectors
Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR)
MPEMR has two Divisions headed by two secretaries; Power Division is responsible for all policies and matters relating to electricity generation, transmission and distribution from conventional and non-conventional energy sources including hydro electricity. Besides, Power Cell acts as its “Think Tank” provides policy supports. Sustainable Renewable Development Authority (SREDA) is the nodal agency for supporting sustainable and renewable energy development.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC)
BERC was established on March 13, 2003 through a legislative Act of the Government of Bangladesh. The commission has the mandate to regulate Electricity, Gas and Petroleum products for the whole of Bangladesh.
Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA)
SREDA is the government authority set up to promote, facilitate and disseminate sustainable energy (SE), i.e. covering both the areas of Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency(EE) to ensure the energy security of the country.
